Whether you only start to learn skiing or you already ski like a professional, your winter holiday in the Gailtal is awaiting you with superb skiing conditions. The "Top-Ski Pass" for Carinthia and East Tyrol is the key to many fun and sunny days on snow-covered slopes. More than 200 kilometres of pistes are awaiting you in the skiing areas of Kötschach-Mauthen, Golzentipp, Nassfeld, Lienz, Sillian and Kals / Matrei. And in the evening you can combine your perfect winter holiday with special moments of pure well-being in our sauna and feel-good oasis.

Off-piste there are also many further activities you can choose from: 70 kilometres of cross country ski track, 18 kilometres winter hiking paths, guided snow shoe tours and ski tours, a natural sledge run, 28 metres ice climbing tower, ice rink, curling lanes and romantic sleigh rides.

Vorhegg Kötschach-Mauthen

The skiing area in Kötschach-Mauthen is very well suited for families. Whether you are a beginner or you already know how to ski, the ski area offers both skiers and snowboarders alike best skiing conditions.

Easy to get to

The ski-lifts have been newly constructed and completely modernised only a few years ago. The station at the bottom of the Vorhegg-Bahn is directly located in Kötschach-Mauthen and easy to reach by car. A long chairlift and two button lifts will take you to the top within minutes.

Skiing school and ski rental

From there, children and parents can enjoy 6 kilometres of well prepared piste. For those, who are only starting to learn how to ski or for those, who wolud like to improve ther skiing, you are spot-on at the Schneesportschule Kötschach-Mauthen (+43 664 386 72 44). If you also need skiing equipment, you can rent it at the Skiverleih Sport Putz.

Off-Piste

Additionally, there are 70 kilometres of cross country ski tracks for those curious to try this sport. Further activities to do in the wintertime are ice climbing, ice hockey, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides and many winter hiking paths

At the Aquarena, a modern swimming pool in Kötschach-Mauthen, you can combine ski and spa. Special offer "Schneeflocke": Children until the age of 9,99 ski for free and children from 10 to 14,99 years of age pay € 6,00 per day. For families there is also one free weekly snow shoe hike being offered.

Sledging Fun For All Ages

"This is when childhood memories arise."

The sledge run for children and families at the "Gailberghöhe" is about 1,6 km long and within 25 minutes walking distance from the hotel, which is where you can start your fun adventure. The natural-sledge run is very popular among families and nature lovers. There is also a sledge rental as well as sufficient parking spaces available. We suggest that you combine your sledge adventure with a fun bowling evening at our hotel Gailberghöhe.
